Meet the Leaders
Hi, I’m Lairre, Setting Manager at Westgate
I’ve been part of the Toast and Tea team since 2021 and I love the family feel for children and staff, literally for me as my big brother Oscar worked as a childcare assistant when the company first opened, and my little brother Teddy now sometimes volunteers having attended club for several years.
I really enjoy crafts and baking activities and reading stories, but my favourite part of working at Toast and Tea is spending time to build close relationships with every individual child through chatting and playing. I love seeing them grow in confidence and their personalities shine as they spend time with us.
I am Paediatric first aid trained and a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the setting. I am also particularly good at looking after children who need extra support in the setting, and my main goal is to create a happy and fun space all the children can feel safe in with the perfect mix of patience, silliness and care.
Hi, I’m Ella, Setting Manager at Westgate
I started my Toast and Tea journey as a childcare assistant in July 2024 following the completion of my Psychology degree at the University of Birmingham. Since I joined the immediate family feel of the setting was made clear through the strong relationships between staff and children, which was helped through working alongside my younger sister!
I have loved getting to know the families of Westgate and the amazing children, through playing, reading stories and chatting at snack and dinner time! I love getting muddy in the tuff trays in themed activities, and leading funky finger activities with the year R children in order to aid their motor development.
As a Setting Manager I am Pediatric first aid trained and one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads. I absolutely love working with the children of Westgate and my aim every day is to make it the best possible experience for them, and for Toast and Tea to be a place they want. to attend.
Our Clubs
We offer three different clubs at our out-of-school setting at Toast & Tea Westgate.
Breakfast Club
Our breakfast sessions begin at 7.30am. The children enjoy a nutritious breakfast, eaten together at around 8.00am. The children then put on high-vis vests and we walk them safely to school using our rope system.
After-school Club
Our after-school sessions begin at school collection time and finishes at 6.00pm. We collect the children directly from school and walk them safely to the Log Cabin using our rope system. The children have a snack when we arrive, then later eat a delicious hot meal sat down together, typically at around 5.00pm.
If your child takes part in any school sports and activity clubs, we will be very happy to collect them from the school club at its finishing time and then walk them to our Toast & Tea setting.
Holiday Club
We also run a holiday club at the Log Cabin on Stockbridge Road, Winchester, during school holidays. Visit the Holiday Club page of this website to find out more and to book your space.

Walking To & From School
Our Toast & Tea out-of-school setting is a short walk from the school, so parents are naturally keen to know how we get our children safely to and from school.
We provide high-vis vests for our children to wear all year round. You can’t miss a Toast & Tea child! We take a register before we leave for school in the morning and have a register for pick-up after-school, so we know we have all the children with us before we start walking. The children then walk slowly along the pavement together, all holding on to our safety rope at all times. There is always an adult at the front and back of the rope. We are often referred to as ‘The Walking Bus’!
This short walk is a great opportunity for us to keep talking to the children about safe road behaviour.
Food
Good nutrition is a vital part of a child’s day. We offer all our children a healthy, balanced breakfast before school and a hot meal at our after-school clubs. Our settings have facilities that allow us to prepare food freshly and hygienically. We also make sure children sit down together at tables to enjoy their food.
If your child has any special dietary requirements, preferences or food allergies we will ask for these on the registration form before they begin. We are able to cater for your child’s dietary needs and will adjust the food on offer where needed.
Our menu may alter slightly from week to week. Please find below an example of what Toast & Tea children can enjoy.
Requesting / Withdrawing a Space
AT THIS TIME WE ARE FULL WITH A WAITLIST FOR MOST SESSIONS
Thank you for your interest in a place at Toast and Tea Westgate. We are now full for September 2024 and will not be able to consider offering any further places until at least October. Please email us to register your interest and we will contact you as soon as we can.
New to Toast & Tea
We are always excited to welcome new children to Toast & Tea. If you would like to request a space for your child at Toast & Tea Westgate, please download and complete our registration form.
Withdrawing Your Space
We also understand circumstances change. So, if your child is currently with us and you would like to cancel a space or withdraw completely, please send us an email to confirm. Let us know the child’s name and which spaces you would like to cancel.
The notice period for withdrawing your place is one calendar month. Fees will be payable until the last session has been attended.
Reception Year Starters September 2025
Your child starting school for the first time is an exciting and nerve-wracking moment! We know working out how to smoothly balance school hours with working hours can be a big source of worry. That is, of course, exactly why Toast & Tea was set up, to give needed out-of-school support to families.
While school spaces are not officially confirmed until April, we are happy for you send us an email to register interest in advance. In this email please let us know the full name of your child/children, and what days or sessions you are looking for them to attend.
Please note, registering interest does not guarantee your child/children a space; spaces are very limited and allocated with priority given to current children, then siblings of current children, and then in order of the children requiring the most amount of sessions across the week.
On, or shortly after school placement day, we will email you to ask for confirmation as to whether your child/children has secured a place at Barton Farm, and double check the sessions you have requested. We will then offer out spaces available, and a non-refundable deposit of £30 will be requested at this stage to secure the sessions. This is the fairest way to ensure everyone registering has a genuine interest in the space, as we are often over-subscribed.
If your child starts with us, this £30 will be deducted from their first invoice.
Fees & Financing
Our breakfast clubs are £8 per session. This includes a healthy, balanced breakfast.
Our after-school clubs are £13 per session. This includes a hot meal and range of activities, including time to reflect on the day with an adult.
Fees are payable monthly in advance, with a £30 deposit payable with the registration form. We do accept childcare vouchers. Your voucher provider will want to know our Ofsted number, which is 2607487.
